Lishui Rice Cake Making

According to the public notice of January 2024, Lishui Rice Cake Making is one of the new inscriptions in the recommended list for the fourth batch of district-level intangible cultural heritage items. Its category is traditional craft and its applicant unit is the Jingqiao Town People's Government. The name is written with the characters for steamed rice cakes; the notice gives neither the varieties made nor the processes used.

Entry to be expanded. This is a skeleton entry: at present it guarantees only that the fields and sources are complete. Still to be added: the varieties and forms of the rice cakes, the soaking, grinding and steaming of the rice flour, shaping and colouring, their use in seasonal and ritual contexts, the villages of transmission and the line of transmission. The glossary of this library also records a Honglan Yudai Cake Making item; it is not the same name as this one and the two must not be conflated. Until then, no unverified details will be entered.
