Lishui White Tea Making

According to the public notice of January 2024, Lishui White Tea Making is one of the new inscriptions in the recommended list for the fourth batch of district-level intangible cultural heritage items. Its category is traditional craft and its applicant unit is the Hefeng Town People's Government. The name uses the term for white tea, but the notice does not say whether this refers to a tea plant variety, to the pale colouring of the young leaves, or to the method of finishing the tea. Four items in this batch were submitted by the Hefeng Town People's Government, and this is the only tea item among them.

Entry to be expanded. This is a skeleton entry: at present it guarantees only that the fields and sources are complete. Still to be added: the distribution of the tea gardens and the varieties planted, the picking standard and season, the steps of spreading, de-enzyming and drying, the form of the finished tea and how it is drunk, the villages of transmission and the line of transmission. Until then, no unverified details will be entered.
