Village History Halls, Worthy Halls and Traditional Village Protection

Halls built in ancestral halls and old houses, and two separate lists of traditional villages

Village history halls and worthy halls

According to the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau's reply of November 2024, 12 village-history halls and worthy halls of various kinds have been built in ancestral halls, old houses and other historic buildings. The same reply records the excavation and protection of folk crafts and customs including the Luoshan Great Dragon and the Shehuo fire festival. The list of halls could not be verified and is not supplied here.

Two separate lists of traditional villages

According to a reply from the Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau, the district has two Chinese traditional villages and twelve provincial traditional villages. The Chinese traditional village list and the provincial traditional village list are two separate lists; they are given separately here and are not combined into a single count.

Villages entering the lists

According to the Culture and Tourism Bureau's reply of November 2023, five villages, including Tai Village in Jingqiao, Luoshan in Hefeng and Yangjia Village in Sunjiaxiang, entered the sixth batch of the Jiangsu provincial traditional village list.

According to a report by the district media centre dated July 2025, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development published a notice of the eighth batch of provincial traditional villages, and Shangzhuang in Shanggang Community, Honglan Subdistrict, Lishui District, was among those selected. The report's headline refers to two villages, but only Shangzhuang has been verified here and the other is not named; the list should follow the department's published text.

Uncertainties

First, the figure of 12 village-history and worthy halls is the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau's own; its date is the year of that reply, 2024, and it should not be treated as permanently valid.

Second, the figures of two Chinese traditional villages and twelve provincial traditional villages are the Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau's own; their date is the year of that reply, 2025, and the specific names should follow the provincial published documents.

Third, the two lists are not combined. Only the villages noted above have been verified here, and no attempt is made to complete the lists.
